Is Love an Emotion or Something More?
If I was to ask you to define what "love" is, what would you say?
Would you agree with various dictionary definitions of love which (to paraphrase) is an affection, a feeling, ultimately an emotion that can come and go depending on circumstance?
Or do you sense there is more?
Is there more to it?
While the definition of love in the dictionary is true, what if there is a missing definition?
What if that missing definition, if recognized and understood, could literally change life on this planet for the better?
What if that missing definition is about us (and technically all life)?
What if that definition of love is what we are at our core?
What if love is our essence?
What if love is what we are when we strip away the human ego, human emotions, social conditioning and expectations, which in of themselves are temporary and fluid?
What are we left with?
When we strip all of that away, we reveal who we truly are.
We are pure love.
We are Love that is unconditional.
We are Love that has no boundaries, limitations or expectations.
We are pure love.
Yes, we can still experience the emotion called "love" in any number of experiences (ie. romantic, parental, etc.) or use the term "love" in response to something (ie "I love that song").
Yes, there will also be times where we may experience what we believe is the opposite of love (ie fear, anger, jealousy, sadness).
Yet, behind those temporary emotional states, there exists "love".
Love is what we are.
We are pure love.
NOTE: I feel it's important to say that at this point, that while I am not aware of any scientific evidence to back up my thinking, when I think about love in its purist form, it resonates. Also, a few years ago, there was talk that Albert Einstein had penned a letter to his daughter talking about a universal force of love. (Think L=MC 2 in place of E=MC 2), but that has so far been put under the fake news category (for now 😉 ). Yet, imagine if.
Imagine If…
Imagine if we understood that love -- pure love -- is what we are?
Imagine what that would mean for us as individuals and collectively as a species?
Would we look within and know love, or would we continue to look to others to fill a perceived lack of love in ourself?
Would we be more compassionate, more giving, etc. to others; to ourself?
Imagine the Global Impact…
How different would our world be if collectively we understood that love — pure love — is what we are?
Would unrest, division, war and inequality be a thing of the past?
Would our world systems evolve to be designed from a place of pure love?
Would we finally see past the illusion of separation?
Imagine if we re-remembered that love is what we are.
Perhaps it starts with something as simple as adding a definition to define "pure love" to our dictionaries.
Perhaps it starts with a conversation with those around you.
How About You?
Do you feel the dictionary definitions of love is true but incomplete?
Do you believe "love" in its purist form is what we are?
Can you see the possibilities for a better tomorrow if we came from a place of pure love; from a place of remembering what we are?
I'd love to know your thoughts. Feel free to reach out to me here.
