Do you look up?
As you go about your day to day activities and live your life, it can become easy to forget that you are a part of so much more. You are not only a part of your family, the community you live in, the country you live in and the planet Earth you call home, but you are also a part of everything that ever was is, or will be.
A great way to connect with and re-remember this is to look up at the vastness of the sky (particularly a night sky when the sky is clear and the moon is not reflecting the light from the sun). Not a quick glance up, but actually spending the time to connect with it, and often.
When you look up, really look up and connect, you will begin to see, understand and know that there is so much more to you than there appears to be; that you and everything are all connected; to know that when you feel lost and alone or that the world is going crazy, that you are a part of something so much bigger. And that when you can connect with that, and feel that total connection, that belonging and unity with something so big, so vast and unending, the intention is to not have you feel small and insignificant, but instead it is to have you know that you are a part of that. It is meant to empower and connect you.
It is a feeling that goes beyond words.
Looking up is something I do every morning, every night and often throughout the day. I encourage you to do the same.
Note: If you are more of an early riser than someone who can stay up late to see the dark sky, there is a great opportunity for the next while to connect with some of this wonder. As I write this article (2016-JAN), 5 of the planets in our solar system (Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn) are visible and in line with each other in the pre-dawn sky until 20 February.
