How the separation of children helped to create a shift

I imagine you’ve seen the headlines of children being separated from their parents as they cross from one man made country border to another.

As a parent and a fellow human being, it breaks my heart and I am very much angered by it.

As a person who’s Big-Why is to help create a transformational shift in human consciousness, I was also feeling deflated in my ability to help create that shift when something so fundamental as keeping children with their parents in what is supposed to be a first world country is disregarded. I found I had to spend time going within to help turn my perspective and emotions around.

As I looked at the situation with more depth, I became encouraged at our human potential and even more impassioned in my mission.

I became encouraged not by the act of separating parents from their children, but from the countless people (from not only the receiving country but from people around the world including myself) who said, “this is wrong”.

People who understood that although they may not directly know the people impacted, they understand that we are all human beings deserving of love, respect and equality. They understood that when we disrespect one, we disrespect all. They saw a system that did not align with that and said, “this is wrong”.

Their unified voice of “this is wrong” helped to create a shift!

They helped to create a shift, not just in government policy but in human consciousness as well!

Their unified voice caused a leader of the receiving country to sign an order to change their process that while is not an ideal change, it is at least for now returning children to their parents.

They also sent a message to the leader saying we will be keeping a close eye on whether the solution put in place is appropriate.

Their unified voice of “this is wrong” helped many more people awaken to what was going on and to question their own beliefs and mindsets around separation, inclusion and unity. Their unified voice helped to create a shift in thinking for many.

While there are still countless others in the world being treated inhumanely and we still have much more to do to help others to see that we are all one, for now, this unified voice of “this is wrong” is an encouraging step towards a world where everyone and every life form is treated with love, respect, and equality.

Together, individual voices can become unified creating great change for the betterment of all and that change can and does happen quickly. We simply need to add our awakened voice (and actions) to the unified voice of love, respect and equality for all to see a better world for all.
