What’s In Your Suitcase?

Two vintage suitcase

Do you know that 24 hours a day, every single day you of your life, you are carrying a suitcase around with you everywhere you go?

It isn’t an ordinary suitcase though:

  • You can’t physically see this suitcase, but it’s always there and it never leaves you.

  • It’s not very big, but it holds more than you could ever imagine.

  • It started out empty for the most part but you have been adding things to it every day.

  • It weighs next to nothing, but what’s inside can be a burden for you to carry.

  • What’s inside can allow you to travel to great places or can keep in one place.

  • You didn’t pack most of what is in it, but you are able to determine what stays, goes and gets added (although you may not know it).

  • It didn’t cost you anything to buy it, but what is inside can cost you a lot.

What exactly is this suitcase?

As you may have guessed by now, this suitcase is actually your subconscious and the content is all the beliefs you have about life, yourself, others and the world.

While some of the beliefs have been helpful, the majority are not.

In fact, most of the beliefs are outdated, incorrect and are based on struggle, lack, and fear. Beliefs like “money is evil”, “big boys don’t cry”, “girls don’t play with trucks”, to name a few.

Just like packing a goose down winter coat for a Caribbean holiday is pointless, lack beliefs don’t serve you either.

The good news is that just like a physical suitcase, you can decide exactly what goes in your virtual suitcase and what doesn’t to make the most of your trip through life.

You no longer need to rely on an adult to pack it for you as they did when you were a child.

You can fill your virtual suitcase with facts rather than beliefs; beliefs based on limitless possibilities, abundance, and love rather than struggle, lack, and fear; beliefs that help you realign to who you truly are and your inner purpose.

The choice is yours.

So, what are you going to put in your virtual suitcase? What are you leaving behind?

As a heads up, when you first start to repack your virtual suitcase, you may find just like packing a real suitcase for a trip, you may tend to pack too much or hang on to things you know you won’t “wear”, but before long, you will be like a seasoned world traveler and will let go of what you don’t need and what remains will be exactly what you need.
