Look where you want to go not where you are
A while back, I was driving on a road that is narrow, quite steep and has a few very, very tight turns all within a short distance. It’s one of my favourite roads in the area where I live. I love the turns, the forest on each side and the view of Lake Ontario from the top of the escarpment. (If you would like to see the road, just type “McNeilly Road, Hamilton, ON” into your map application).
As I was approaching one of the tight turns, I was reminded of an important lesson I learned while practicing my turns during a motorcycle training course.
The instructor told us “Always look where you want to go, not where you are”.
The reason they say this is literally when riding, you and your motorcycle will go to wherever you are looking. Sounds crazy, but it is true. They call it target fixation. In other words, if you see a pothole, you’ll say to yourself “don’t hit that pothole” but if you keep your eyes on the pothole, the odds are you will hit it. Why? You were focused on the pothole and from Law Of Attraction perspective, the "don’t" part of that thought will drop off and it hears “hit that pothole”.
This not only applies when you are driving a car or riding a motorcycle, but it also applies to having the life you desire.
For example, say you are an entrepreneur but you are not as successful as you would like to be. Do you spend your time focusing on the lack of success you have today or do you see yourself already being successful?
If you focus on the lack, you will stay in lack and continue to not have success. If you focus your thoughts on success and see yourself as successful, you will draw that positive experience to you. Now, do you get to sit on your backside and do nothing? Of course not, because doing nothing is like saying you are happy with where you are and the Universe always gives you exactly what you ask for.
So if you want the life you desire and it’s not the life you are living right now, stop focusing on where you are right now.
Start focusing your intention, your thoughts, your visions, etc. on where you desire to be.
Create a very detailed Avatar of this desired life.
For example, when you have the life you desire what would a typical day be like for you – from the time you wake up to the time you lay down to sleep for the night? Where do you live – which country, do you live in the city or remote, etc.? What is your physical home like – inside and outside; is it paid for, do you have neighbours, do you have property, etc.? Do you travel, where and how often? Do you work – for yourself, for someone else, what is your position, how much do you make? What is your passion? What are you thankful for? How much money is in your bank account right now? Who are your friends? Get as detailed as you can and hold that vision. Can you see it, can you feel it? Does it feel in alignment with your inner self?
By doing this and not just one time, you are looking at where you desire to be and not focusing on where you are now.
When your desire is aligned with your true inner-self, and you focus on what you desire, you can’t help but succeed in reaching that desire.
Remember, if you want things to be different, look where you want to go, not where you are.
