As you look around at our world do you wonder why, after all this time and with the number of achievements we have made as a species, we still haven’t resolved world issues (and even our own personal issues)?

Why is it we still have human conflict (war, terrorism, extremism), inequality (racism, poverty, human trafficking), ecological abuses (climate change, pollution, deforestation, animal exploitation), mental health issues (anxiety, suicide, addiction, spousal and child abuse) to name a few?

After all, we call ourselves an intelligent species so we should be able to figure this out right?

You’re right, we should be able to and we absolutely can.

How?

We remove our blinders

We take our blinders off and see the root reason behind why we have issues in the first place, and within that understand the role social construct, culturescape, world systems, education models and our own brain currently play in limiting us from seeing the root reason.

What is the root reason?

While you may believe the reason is because our issues are too complex or it’s just a part of life on a planet with close to 8 billion people, it’s not. Those are excuses, not the root reason.

While you may believe the reason is because of greed, corruption, power, control, fear, etc. by others, that’s not why. Those like the issues themselves are merely symptoms of the root reason.

The core root reason is because we believe we are separate from one another and from everything.

Separation is an illusion

It doesn't matter if you look at separation from the "ripple effect" where every action we take has an impact no matter how small; the fact that we all share and need this beautiful planet to survive; or that "everything is energy" and separation disappears at the subatomic level, separation is an illusion.

Separation is a very convincing illusion, but an illusion all the same.

Because it is such a convincing illusion, we have created an endless supply of beliefs, mindsets, biases, social construct and global systems to perpetuate it:

  • We believe human made borders are real.

  • We believe it is a criminal offence to kill another human, yet is expected in war.

  • We believe we are superior to other life forms.

  • We believe some people, cultures, etc. are better than others because (insert your justification here).

  • We believe it is okay to eat cows, pigs and chickens but not cats and dogs.

  • We believe human trafficking and climate change are unrelated.

  • We believe hunger is a part of life for some, despite massive amounts of food being discarded because of imperfections.

  • We believe an explosion in Lebanon is unrelated to our North American lives because it’s on the other side of the world.

  • We believe competition at the expense of others is necessary at times.

  • We believe compassion and empathy come with conditions.

  • We believe it is up to those in charge to fix what is wrong in this world.

  • We don’t see that we are infinitely connected to everything.

The Impact of the Illusion

Because separation is such a convincing illusion we are ignorant, for the most part, to the impact our actions, choices and thoughts have on others and all life:

  • We don’t see how our consumerism contributes to a National Security law in Hong Kong and how that law impacts freedom of speech globally.

  • We don’t see how buying hair extensions for a fancy night out relates to a woman in Vietnam selling a symbol of her femininity for $2 in order to help feed her family. (The Truth about where hair extensions come from)

  • We don’t see how choosing single use plastic impacts the global biosphere and the future of life.

  • We don’t see how buying cheap clothing supports child labour, unsafe factories, pollutes land and waters, fills landfills, and effects self-esteem.

  • We don’t see how our lifestyle and choices can bring about a virus that originates on the other side of the world.

Because we believe we are separate, we literally cannot see how intrinsically inter-connected everything is to everything and ultimately what we do to another, we do to ourselves and that is a problem.

Why?…

The Problem

As long as we can’t see past this illusion, we will continue to create a world based on separation and face the repercussions of that choice.

By not seeing past the illusion of separation, we will continue to be ignorant to the role we each play in the staggering number of global issues we face as a human race.

  • We will continue to believe that what happens in another part of the world does not impact us where we live.

  • We will continue to blame others for the personal issues we face.

  • We will continue to see increased division.

  • We will continue to contribute to the extinction of other life forms on this planet.

  • We will continue to disregard and destroy the resources of this planet that support life.

In fact, it is abundantly clear we are experiencing these repercussions of believing in the illusion of separation more and more every day.

If we have any hope of getting off of this unsustainable trajectory we are on, we must wake up to the illusion.

How?

How do we wake up?

  • We begin by acknowledging the belief we are separate is the root reason for our world issues.

  • We begin by understanding the role our current biased world systems, inaccurate social conditioning, and our brain plays in limiting the human psyche from seeing past the illusion of separation at this point in time.

  • We begin by learning universal truths about life and let go of the inaccurate social constructs, beliefs, mindsets and biases that perpetuate the illusion of separation.

  • We begin by teaching others about this truth so they can understand it and begin to see past it.

  • We ultimately replace biased world systems with world systems that embrace truth, respect, sustainability and unity for all.

    How?

In short, we acknowledge, educate and transform.

This doesn't mean world issues will magically go away overnight, be easy to eradicate, and won’t be met with resistance, but it does mean that by focusing on addressing the root cause our world issues will be resolved by default over time.

Are you ready to take that first step?

The world needs socially conscious deep thinkers, leaders, game changers, influencers, and others like you who can see our world is in trouble. People like you who are ready to delve deeper into this, and think outside the box in order to help eradicate our issues, and to create new world systems based on unity and equality for all.

Together we can create the transformation that creates a sustainable and thriving world for all.

It’s time.

Would you like to chat?

When you can begin to see that separation is an illusion, all kinds of questions will inevitably pop into your mind.

That time can become very isolating and frustrating as you realize that others in your circle are not in the same place at all and searching for answers is like going down a rabbit hole.

I get it. I’ve been there and continue to be.
