Are Distractions Holding You Back?
Have you ever noticed when you have something you want to do that involves taking a big step out of your comfort zone, and you know in your heart that the result is where you are meant to be, that all kinds of distractions and high priority items suddenly appear in your life?
For example, people call out of the blue and say they need your time now not later, you get called away to work on something else, you get a flood of distracting time-sensitive emails, etc. There are many examples but the common thread is that they all pull you away from stepping out of your comfort zone.
Did you know that you are creating these distractions?
Yes, you!
Remember, you are continually creating your reality with your predominant thoughts and because everything is energy including your thoughts, the Universe responds in kind by bringing you experiences that align with those thoughts. It’s not woo-woo, it’s science.
In this case, the distractions that are seemingly coming out of the blue and holding you back from taking the big step are simply a representation of your fear based beliefs/mindsets related to taking that big step towards your vision or a positive change you want to take in your life.
The cool thing is that once you realize you are creating these distractions and most importantly why you are doing it, you can see the distractions for what they are and let them go.
I’ve experienced this myself many times and continue to, but I am getting better at catching myself and changing the outcome more quickly.
Here’s an example from my life, to help illustrate what I’m talking about.
One day a while back, I was at a point where I was ready to make a massive leap in aligning to my super friggin huge BIG WHY. At the time, I was working with a mentor to help me get past myself and my self-imposed limitations. My mentor had given me a series of vision-related questions designed to help me get very clear. While I was very excited to do this, whenever I decided to dedicate time to go through the questions, something always came up.
Every single time!
That day was no exception.
On that day as I was making my way up to my home office to focus on this, I received a text from a friend who needed guidance now and was going to call me right away; a call from a family member saying they were on their way to drop something off and visit for a bit; and a text from another friend wanting to get together that day. All in the span of a few minutes!
I smiled and said to myself “okay, that’s enough” and then laughed. I was able to recognize the distractions I was creating for myself were showing up because of 2 of my most deep-seated mindsets that like to show up whenever I’m about to expand.
Once I recognized and called out the mindsets, just like that the distractions went away.
The friend who said she was going to call didn’t. The family member did come by but only stayed 10 minutes and the other friend who wanted to get together that day didn’t call!
I was able to create my vision without interruption.
How about you?
Can you remember a time when you created distractions like this for yourself? Are you creating distractions right now?
I’d love to hear about your experience.
